Stitches
2021–ongoing
Reclaimed textiles, soft furnishings, installation
Stitches is an ongoing, evolving installation constructed from reclaimed textiles. The work creates an intimate, tactile environment that invites the audience to slow down, enter, and dwell within the space.
Through layers of patchwork, softness, texture and accumulation, the installation explores the relationship between material, body and sensory experience. Walls and soft surfaces transform the gallery into an environment that can be inhabited rather than simply viewed, offering a space for rest, sensory engagement and quiet reflection.
The work is continually adapted and reconfigured in response to the spaces it inhabits. Each iteration develops a different relationship between the textiles, architecture and audience, allowing the installation to shift between enclosure, shelter and openness.
